About me:

GregW.jpg (24392 bytes)     My name is Greg Witmyer.  I have lived here on Millers Island most of my life.  Although I was born and raised in Dundalk and graduated from Dundalk High School in 1982,  Millers Island was a summer place for me.  After graduation from high school our summer home went up for sale by Beth Steel as did most of the property here on Chesapeake Ave.   Fortunately my parents bought the house, and the lot across the street where my sister and her family lives today.  After major renovations we turned our summer home into a year round home, and moved permanently here in 1984.

I love the water and the Chesapeake Bay and most of the activities that go with it.  Such as jetskiing, boating, fishing and crabbing.  I have always been fascinated with the weather and such natural phenomena's such as thunderstorms and hurricanes.

My love of the Chesapeake Bay and oceans takes me to my place of employment the US Army Corp of Engineers.  The Army Corp of Engineers has really been my only real place of employment since gradation from high school, and Dundalk Community College.  June of 2001, I will have 15 years of employment not including my years as a summer aid.  My main primary duties are onboard the survey boat "Linthicum" as senior survey technician which performs hydrographic surveys of the Baltimore Harbor, and its approaching channels.  My job also takes me often to Ocean City, MD where the "Linthicum" performs Beach Repleshment, Inlet and the rock jetty recon surveys.  Occasionally I get to work on small launch survey boats performing hydrographic surveys on small rivers, and tributaries on the Eastern Shore of MD, and Washington DC.
